I joined Pinterest a few months ago and obviously started pinning like crazy. (No, I didn’t go all crazy and start planning a wedding). I found amazing recipes and beautiful photographs that I would never hope to compete with. I realized that I can try the desserts and one day I could. It a nice camera. So my first project was Nutrlla Cream Puffs by The Sweet Art.
The results were delicious. I didn’t have fancy cinnamon but I don’t think anyone cared. It’s now a fallback recipe for celebrations or gatherings where cookies don’t quite cut it.
Using a round tip and pastry bag, I pipe out the little nuggets of joy onto parchment paper and then smooth down the nub with my finger. The secret to these is uniform shape and size. For a guide I print out several circles and place the paper under the parchment. Voila! Instant touch of professionalism. Bake and immediately pierce each puff in an inconspicuous location to allow steam to escape.
To insert the delicious Nutella cream filling, I use a small star tip. More volume than a writing tip and easier to insert than a large tip used for jelly filled pastries. After experimenting, DO NOT make the cream filling and then refrigerate prior to filling the puffs. Let the puffs stand empty if you’re short on time and whip up the Nutella just prior to use. Bad things happen if you chill then try to pipe Nutella cream. Bad bad things.
Nutella Cream Puffs

5.5 Tbs butter
1 Tbs sugar
1 cup minus 1 Tbs cake flour
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup water
pinch of salt omitted due to salted butter
3 large eggs
1/8 tsp cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350
In saucepan, combine butter, sugar, milk and water. Bring to boil and then remove from heat. Whisk in flour to get sticky paste. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, to get paste with glossy sheen. Add cinnamon last.
Fit piping bag with large round tip and fill with batter. Pipe small mounds of dough approximately 1.2 inches in diameter. Smooth tops down with moist finger. Bake for 9 minutes then prop door slightly ajar. (Wooden spoon works well) Continue baking 20-25 more minutes until golden brown.
Nutella Cream Filling
6.5 oz Nutella
2.5 Tbs softened butter (yes, one stick for the whole project)
6-8 Tbs heavy whipping cream
Beat ingredients together on high until light and fluffy.
